POETRY, my eleventh-grade English teacher contended, contained more information per square inch than any other form. Yeah, but… (she also had a "Ya-but Club" for people who said "Yeah, but…" all the time) it's a different kind of information, not data but emotional, metaphorical, visceral information, the kind that doesn't date quickly (Who knew rhyme would come back in a big way in the Rap Age?).
